Waylon's story

First, I want to thank you all so much for your support and for allowing us to use your amazing Mamaroo for our son in the hospital. We are forever grateful. It made his stay and healing so much better. It was the only thing that kept him calm and was truly our saving grace for 3 months while inpatient with him.GOD BLESS you and all that you do.

Our Journey began at our 20 week ultrasound. Our Amazing Doctor in Johnstown PA, Dr. Khouzami found that Waylon had a Congential Heart Defect, Transposition of the Great Arteries as well as a Cleft lip and Palate.

Immediately our Dr. got our care initiated in Pittsburgh with Maternal Fetal Medicine at West Penn Hospital where I would have to deliver Waylon. We got an amazing fetal Cardiologist Dr. Kanani and got the absolute most wonderful Heart surgeon in the world Dr.Morell.  My pregnancy was rough. Constant appointments, hospital stays, and monitoring. I was so thankful to have my home Dr. And Pittsburgh Dr. In constant communication.

I was induced at 39 weeks. Waylon was born on 12/12/18. He came out crying but quickly took a turn for the worse. He was intubated and Medvac to Children's Hospital Pittsburgh. He went through his first cardiac cath surgery at 2 hours old to create an ASD. He was in the CICU sedated and intubated on so many machines and tubes. On 12/18/18 he had open heart surgery to repair his TGA. He had the Arterial Switch procedure and PDA ligation. Unfortunately his chest had to remain open for several days. He had many complications after with low cardiac output, blood clots, and Chylothorax. He had his 3rd heart surgery for a chest washout and closure on 12/23/18 and he had a wound vac after. Waylon was born with many other issues as well so our Hospital stay was almost 3 months. He had to get a Gtube placed as he was unable to eat. His journey is full of ups and downs but he is so strong and such an inspiring little Warrior.
Through his entire stay at the hospital the only thing that would calm him was the Mamaroo.  We would put him in there and he would find peace. We were so greatful for your generosity.

Fast forward four years Waylon is an adventurous little dare devil that loves anything with a motor! He never slows down and lives running after his older sister's. We are reminded every day what a miracle and warrior he truly is. We can't wait to see where life takes him!
